Alpha Psi Omega Events
Alpha Psi hosts a variety of different events throughout the school year, and we are always coming up with new ideas to not only benefit our theater department, but also to reach out to our community. Information about some of our upcoming and past events can be found here.
Urban Kids Day: In the past Alpha Psi has hosted Urban Kids Day, a fun filled event in which children from the Urban Kids Center right here in our neighborhood come to BSC to participate in a skit with our theater students and have a chance to perform for their families.
Guest Speakers: We have had several guest speakers come to the BSC theater department, including Sister Helen Prejean, the author and real life heroine of Dead Man Walking, and Ben Vereen, long time Broadway Veteran who performed in Hair, Pippin, Jesus Christ Superstar, Chicago, Fosse, and Wicked among many others.
Way the Heck Off Broadway: Every year we host an event called Way the Heck Off Broadway where students choose a selection of music or a scene or skit and perform for our campus. This event is held in Theatre One.
New Events
Improv Night Fundraiser: A relatively new event for Alpha Psi, Laughs for a Cure will be a comedy improv night to raise money for Birmingham AIDS Outreach (BAO). It is an evening full of fun games, sketches, audience participation, and lots of laughter.
**Beginning September 2012, Alpha Psi Omega's official philanthropy partner will be Birmingham AIDS Outreach (BAO).
